Skill training on Poultry Rearing & Management begins Hayuliang

With the aim, to imparting skill-based training to rural youth, by observing SOPs COVID-19 ICAR-KVK Anjaw started a 6 days skill training for rural youth (STRY) on Poultry rearing and management here at Khupa under Sub-mission on Agriculture Extension (SAME) of National Mission on Agriculture Extension & Technology (NMAET) of Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. At the beginning of programme, Course Director Dr Santosh Kumar welcome to the Chief Guest Mrs G Rimi Circle Officer Hayulaing, Guest of Honour Basanta Singh, Principal JNV Khupa and BMM ARSRLM, Hayuliang sub-division Mr. Nerswn Daimary and explained about importance of programme in context of Anjaw district where poultry is an inevitable part of tribal culture and life used not only for meat and egg production but also as an offering to God. Therefore, poultry has great demand, less supply and high economic losses due to traditional rearing, disease incidence, lack of basic knowledge and skill of housing, brooding, breed and health care management. During the inaugural address Chief Guest Mrs G Rimi CO Hayuliang encourage to participants to be attentive and use the opportunity to learn scientific method of poultry rearing and use it as tools to improve own income especially during pandemic period. She also explained the poultry is one of the most profitable enterprise however, needs to know about the management to avoid mortality and losses. Under the training theory, practical and demonstration on scientific housing under commercial & backyard poultry, brooding of DOC, poultry breeds, nutrition, health and diagnosis, bio-safety measures, hygiene and hatchery management of poultry farming will be discussed and demonstrated.
