Land Preparation
Well leveled land with proper drainage facility. Land prepared to fine tilth after effective shower in monsoon to conserve moisture. Incorporate Endosulfan 4 % at the time of final ploughing to control termites and inhabiting insects.
Seed should be treated with Captan @ 4g/kg seed or Bavistin @ 2g/kg seed

Spacing
30cm-45cm x 10cm.
×
Intercultural Operation
Thinning should be accompanied with hoeing and weeding after 15-25 days of sowing to maintain plant population and plant growth.
×
Fertilizer Management
Emphasis should be given on basal application of FYM @ 2-3 t/ha and N, P and K 50+30+30 kg/ha respectively. Apply 20 kg S/ha and 1kg B/ha, wherever the soil is deficient in these nutrients.
×
Weeding Management
Hand weeding at 30 & 60 DAS is effective to control the weeds. Application of Isoproturon @ 0.75 kg ai/ha and Pendimethalin @ 1.0 kg ai/ha to control the rabi weeds.
×
Water management
One pre-sowing irrigation should be given in dry areas. One irrigation either at 50% flowering or early pod formation stage needs to be given.
×
Plant Protection Measures
Alternaria, white rust and downy mildew can be controlled by Maneazeb (0.2 %) with 2-3 sprays at 15 days interval.
Aphids by spraying Phosphomidon (Dimecron 100 EC) at 300 ml dissolve in 1000 ml of water.
